RAPID PROTOTYPING TOOLKIT

Introducing a new rapid prototyping toolkit that incorporates 3D printed parts, electronics and a planar medium like cardboard or wood to quickly make functional prototypes.

Rapid Prototyping Toolkit: Projects

CONNECTOR KIT

This project consists of a set of modular 3D printed connectors that can be used by individuals to rapidly fabricate motion capable prototypes. The connectors include motion capable ones such as a rack and pinion mechanism, hinge joints, bearings, ball joints etc. Additionally it allows the users to make their own connectors to add to the database if needed

RRR CONFIGURATION ARM

Using CAD and the connectors a robotic arm such as the RRR ard rendered below can be designed and fabricated in a couple of hours

RRR AND RPR  ARM FABRICATED

Once fabricated, due to the modular nature, different connectors can be switched and swapped and link lengths can be remade with very low downtimes

WALKING MECHANISM

Bar linkage mechanisms can be quickly made to understand and verify kinematics for larger complex designs

REMOTE CONTROL CAR

Remote control car with ESP8266 and collision avoidance using an IR sensor and a buzzer to act as horn. off the shelf electronics can be seamlessly integrated with custom housing connectors that are part of the toolkit

BALL BALANCE MACHINE

The ball-balance mechaism can balance a single ping pong ball between the two ends. The rack and pinion is engaged to control the balance based on a timing mechanism.
