WIRE PANELISATION PROJECT

Shape Structuralizer is an ongoing Project at C-Design lab. I have been tasked with the fab and experimental testing of this project.

  • the Fab involved design principles such as needs and requirements analysis using KANO Analysis

  • Subsequently Morphological charts were made to obtain visual representations of the various ideas for each function.

  • Next, several concepts were created and were tested for ease of assembly, ease of manufacturability, time and material consumption 

  • Top 3 concepts were selected and a weighted decision matrix was done to evaluate the 3 concepts. 

  • Finally the following concept was decided upon.

HUMAN HAND WITH ARTICULATION

A mixed fabrication Hand with 3D printed motion joints and aluminum rods as medium. Each finger is made up of a combination of hinge joints and ball joints

WallE model made to actual size. It is made up of a system of large and small diameter rods.

Dump truck with laser cut cardboard wheels, and hinge joint for dumping.

Shark cardholder features a shark model with fins that move up and down and the mouth can be used to store cards

BOOKSHELF

The bookshelf can be used to store books and have a swing door to store books. The panels can be attached using magnets.

The FCC Cube was subjected to linearly increasing force and the deformations were recorded

Buckling of corner edges as expected. Failure occurs at 3D printed connectors first.

EXPERIMENTAL TESTING

Experimental testing using a Universal testing machine was done for unit cube configurations as Face centered cube, Simple Cube, Body centered cube and Gusseted simple cube
